Being a student isn’t just studying and attending classes – you are allowed (and encouraged) to have a social life!
While money is often a concern, there are a lot of discounts and opportunities you can take advantage of as a Humber student.
Laugh your face off
Eat and you could win
Starting September 18, pick up a stamp card at either Gourmet Express, the Humber Room or the Humber food truck. Spend minimum $5 at each location by October 31, get your card stamped and you could win a Fitbit!
Hit the gym
If you want to burn off those delicious Gourmet Express/Humber Room/food truck calories, membership to the Humber gym is free for every full-time student. This includes a bunch of fitness classes too.
If you need motivation or a little tough love to get to the gym, our Fitness and Health Promotion and Exercise Science students provide personal training to Humber staff and students. At $75 for the entire program, you really can’t go wrong.
Be one with nature
The beautiful Humber Arboretum is a great spot to get some fresh air, go for a walk and maybe even spot a deer or two. Arboretum staff host the occasional free walking tour (the next one is September 13) and, starting the end of September, eight NatureRX sessions for $40.
Pay-what-you-can soup bar
On September 25, a pay-what-you-can soup bar opens in LinX at North Campus. This is the first of its kind in the Canadian postsecondary world.
How about $5,000?
From now until September 20, current Humber and Guelph-Humber students can fill out this survey for a chance to win $5,000 from IGNITE, the student association.
Get your spa on
Did you know our North Campus has its own spa? Under the guidance of professionals, students provide manicures, pedicures, massages – for a reasonable price. Check out the full menu here.
Like to travel? Shop?
Save on transit
If travelling solo is more your style, Enterprise Car Share is available at North and Lakeshore.
Stream that music
Not exclusive to students, but even so … most movie theatres have cheap Tuesdays. This includes Imagine Cinemas in Woodbine Centre, super close to North Campus ($6).
Last but not least, if you’d like to do more learning in between your other learning, Lynda.com – a website with thousands of online video tutorials – is free for all Humber students.
