January has been a busy month so far at Humber College. New students had a fun-filled Welcome Week and Winter Orientation. They were able to connect with their classmates, tour the campus and meet their faculty. Activities included recreation drop-ins, mix and mingles, and the First Year Experience Winter Café.
Kareena Sankreacha, Bachelor of Interior Design student, won the Planning and Visual Education (PAVE) student design competition. Her greenhouse-style financial institution concept came out on top against more than 350 entries. Sankreacha received an $8,000 prize for her design at an awards gala in New York City.
Plans for the exciting new Lakeshore Humber Cultural Hub (HCH) are now in place. It will transform the west side of Lakeshore Campus and provide students with access to cutting-edge technology and experiences, benefit the GTA’s cultural and creative industries, and attract arts out of the downtown core. The HCH will also include two music and performing arts venues, industry-infused learning facilities and spaces for community collaboration.
