Special recognition
The 2020 CSA Humanitarian Award was given to Nathalie Younglai, a graduate of Humber’s Television Writing and Producing program. She founded BIPOC TV & Film, which advocates for meaningful representation of People of Colour on set and on screen.
Younglai has been nominated and accepted several prestigious industry awards and now works as a writer and co-producer for the CBC drama Coroner.
An eye to the future

For veteran screen professionals, the CSAs loom large and serve as a glimpse of how far they have come.
Nominees like Film & Multiplatform Storytelling professor Orest Sushko and Post-Production program coordinator Lara Johnston continue to innovate and excel in their fields. Their experience and advice motivates a new cohort of media professionals each year.
Both professors encourage their students to embrace change and disruption in the industry – a fitting approach given the move to broadcast the CSAs online due to COVID-19.
