Humber’s Skills teams have another medal to add to their bulging trophy case.
On June 15, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST) students Nikolas de Boer and Mark Gunja won gold at Skills Canada.
They topped the Mechatronics Post-Secondary category at the Virtual National Competition.
In addition to the individual contests, this year’s event featured several live sessions and demonstrations held at different “stages” on the virtual platform.
“Humber College is no stranger to Skills Ontario and Skills Canada and has applauded many FAST students throughout the years for their hard work and dedication to these competitions,” said senior dean Farzad Rayegani.
“I have every confidence we will hear great things from Nickolas & Mark as they embark on their skilled trade careers!”
Humber has plans to build on its Skills success.
“The upcoming expansion of the Centre for Skilled Trades and Technology demonstrates Humber College’s commitment to build a strong future skilled workforce,” said Rayegani.
Participants from Humber’s Skills Ontario Team also brought home more than 20 medals this year.
The 2022 Skills Canada National Competition is expected to be held in person, in Vancouver.
