Humber’s 10th anniversary Golf Classic, presented by TD Insurance, took place on May 29, 2024, at the Lionhead Golf Club and Conference Centre, raising more than $240,000 to support Humber students.
In her remarks to the crowd, Kelly Jackson, vice-president, External Affairs and Professional Learning, recognized ten successful years of camaraderie and support for scholarships at Humber.
Proceeds from this year’s event bring the total funds raised to more than $1.45 million since its inception.
More than 220 golfers teed off on two championship courses. At the end of 18 holes, the golfers enjoyed a lunch along with prizes and a silent auction.
The event was emceed by Humber Journalism alumnus, Burlington Sports Hall of Fame inductee, and sportscaster Eric Smith, best known for his Toronto Raptor’s play-by-play on Sportsnet 590 the FAN. Smith says he doesn’t know where he would be without his experience at Humber.
Humber opened doors which allowed him to follow his passion in sports and land his first job as an intern at the FAN. He was hired within six months and his career took off soon after.
Funds raised from Humber Golf Classic support essential scholarships, bursaries, and emergency funds, ensuring students can remain on the path to success, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Scholarships and bursaries can be life changing, allowing them to focus on their studies without financial stress or worry, and for that we are extremely grateful,” said Krista O’Donnell, Humber’s chief advancement officer.
