Humber Polytechnic and the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) have partnered to deliver a pair of new courses designed to help bolster the skills of the province’s real estate professionals.
Humber will be offering two OREA-developed courses – Mastering OREA Forms: A Practical Foundation for Real Estate Transactions. The second is Effective Leadership in Associations: Roles, Governance and Collaboration.
Registration is now open for both courses, which start in January and February, respectively.
“These courses are far more than professional development,” said Jennifer O’Brien, vice-president, People(s) and Culture at Humber. “They represent a meaningful alignment between education and industry, bringing together Humber’s expertise in applied learning with OREA’s leadership in setting the standards for professionalism in real estate.”
“At Humber, we are deeply committed to developing industry-ready professionals, strengthening leadership capacity and ensuring that education keeps pace with the demands of the real-world,” O’Brien continued. “This partnership with OREA brings those goals to life in a tangible, meaningful way and we are excited about what lies ahead.”

Mastering OREA Forms: A Practical Foundation for Real Estate Transactions is an eight-module course that equips aspiring and new real estate professionals with hands-on knowledge of OREA Standard Forms and Clauses. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Gain the necessary fundamentals related to using OREA forms for residential transactions.
• Understand the OREA forms resources available to them before engaging with consumers.
• Navigate a residential transaction using OREA forms, whether representing a buyer, seller, brokerage, landlord or tenant.
Effective Leadership in Associations: Roles, Governance and Collaboration is a three-part course on not-for-profit association operations and governance practices. Learners will examine meeting dynamics and gain essential tools to collaborate effectively and lead with purpose and will leave the course prepared to contribute to the success of their committees and organizations.
“OREA wants to ensure that real estate professionals in Ontario continue to be North American leaders when it comes to professional standards, education and business tools,” said OREA President Cathy Polan. “This partnership with Humber Polytechnic, offering these two new real estate courses, is an important step towards that goal as we work to support excellence in the real estate profession and pave the way for the next generation."
Earlier this year, OREA offered a pilot version of the – Mastering OREA Forms: A Practical Foundation for Real Estate Transactions course to a select group of Humber learners. The response was overwhelmingly positive with 100 per cent of participants rating their overall experience in it as excellent or very good. As well, 100 per cent said they felt extremely or very confident in the knowledge of OREA forms compared to before the course and that they would be likely to recommend it to a colleague.
Noel Morgan, a recent graduate of Humber’s Real Estate program, participated in the pilot. Relatively new to the industry, he wanted to take the course to gain a deeper understanding of the OREA forms to gain additional skills that will benefit his career.
He now feels better prepared when it comes to the forms and said completing the course has built his confidence.
