This is a place of acknowledgment and fair access, achievement, and personal attention – a special blend of a caring, nurturing environment sets VIU apart from other universities. It’s an essential ingredient for a values-based education that creates an environment balancing academic accomplishments with the goal of developing students’ social and relationship skills to last a lifetime, make a difference, and model others to do the same. In doing this, VIU is making an invaluable contribution to much stronger and healthier communities and a better world. Students and alumni tell us all the time how VIU’s small classes and caring support from faculty and staff have made a difference for them in finding success in their studies. The attention to every student’s needs goes far beyond a number. The result? Students have the opportunity to become graduates who are confident, motivated, and prepared to take on the world as they step into future careers.
Humber graduates of the General Arts and Science - University Transfer Diploma who have achieved an overall Grade Point Average of 2.0 (60%) will be granted advanced standing into Year 3 (60 credits) of the Bachelor of Arts degree at VIU.
Prior to completion of the GAS/UT Diploma, and subject to availability, Humber students may take no more than 3 courses at VIU (or 9 credits) as visiting students on a Letter of Permission. VIU credits are not eligible to be transferred back to VIU. In cases where a student has used VIU credits to complete the Humber GAS/UT Diploma the number of Advanced Standing credits awarded will be reduced accordingly. Humber GAS/UT graduates will be regarded as having satisfied VIU's Breadth Requirement and Degree English Requirements.
Admission to the academic programs listed is at the sole discretion of the partner post-secondary institution. Please contact the institution for detailed admission requirements.
