Support Staff Bargaining

What is the status of bargaining for the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), the union representing all full-time support staff at all 24 Ontario colleges?

OPSEU (full-time support staff) have given notice that they intend to begin strike action on September 11, 2025. Bargaining is scheduled to continue on September 9 and 10. 

Humber has never lost a semester because of labour action. 

Are there any impacts to classes or campus operations at this time? 

There are no changes to classes and campus operations currently. 

In the event of a strike, would classes be suspended?

All Humber full-time classes will continue. Some classes may be moved online during the strike. All Humber Education Training Solutions programs will continue to run as scheduled. Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) courses will be suspended for the duration of the work stoppage. University of Guelph-Humber (U of GH) classes will continue to run.

How will we be advised if a strike is set to occur? 

In the event of a strike, notification will be sent by email, posted on Humber’s corporate social media accounts and included on humber.ca/updates.
