Dear Students,

As Fall 2020 semester programs and courses are primarily being delivered remotely/online, we are committed to continuing to provide many online services to support your academic and personal success. We will work hard to meet your needs by phone, online, and using tools such as Blackboard or Microsoft Teams to maintain a virtual, personal connection.

Our aim, as always, is to support your health and well-being. We will adjust our plans and offerings in response to changing conditions and your feedback.

We understand this is a challenging time. Counselling appointments are available virtually by telephone or video. You can book an appointment by contacting counselling@humber.ca or by phone at 416-675-5090 (North) or 416-675-6622 ext. 3331 (Lakeshore).

For after-hours counselling support, you can access the Good2Talk Helpline at 1-866-925-5454, or use Therapy Assist Online, which provides online and mobile tools.

Academic and Learning Supports

Accounting Centre

The Accounting Centre services are available by using the Live Support link via our website https://business.humber.ca/current-students/resources/learning-labs/accounting-centre.html or by email at accountingcentre@humber.ca.  In addition, the Accounting Centre also provides services using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra webinar room. You can use this service by clicking on the following link: https://ca.bbcollab.com/guest/3e16a0fac38e456bba597c61787d9198.

Our hours of operation are:
Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Bookstore

Humber’s bookstore at the North and Lakeshore campuses will be closed during Toronto and Peel Region lockdown that takes effect on November 23, 2020.

The bookstores will offer curbside pickup. Orders can be placed online at https://www.bkstr.com/humberitstore/home.

Libraries

The Library is offering the following online services to students and faculty: 

Math & Writing Centres

Open Learning Centre

The Centre is open virtually Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9-4 p.m. (hours subject to change during holidays). You can email questions to olc@humber.ca or chat with an advisor during office hours at www.humberonline.ca. Parking and Lockers

For the Fall semester, daily parking at all campuses is complimentary to all students and employees who need to attend the college. Parking permits will not be sold for the Fall semester. Information about student and employee parking permit sales for the Winter 2021 semester will be posted/announced by November 1, 2020. 

Lockers will be available and are free for the Fall 2020 semester. Students should follow the regular locker rental process on MyHumber Services. Completing a payment is not necessary. 

Peer Assisted Learning Support

All of our programs: Peer Tutoring, the PASS program, Learning Skills Workshops and Notetaking are offered online and are ready to support you. Students can contact us at http://humber.ca/learningresources by clicking on the program/service they are seeking to access, or ask our staff about any questions or concerns they may be having.

Test Centre

Financial Wellbeing

Financial Aid

Financial Aid staff are working remotely and will monitor and respond to emails sent to finaid@humber.ca.

The Financial Aid Contact Centre will be operational Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can reach the Financial Aid Contact Centre at 416-675-3111.

IGNITE

Financial Need and IGNITE Bursaries (available for Domestic and International Students) 

Financial Need Bursaries are available for students who have a proven financial need. Bursaries are awarded on an individual basis upon consideration of expenses, income, family support, part-time employment opportunities, academic standing, and personal circumstances. 

Application Process: Students who wish to apply should email finaid@humber.ca and outline the basis of their financial need. Students will be asked to complete a budget form and write a short statement outlining how the current situation is affecting their finances 

Award amount: Based on individual requests/need. 

Our student engagement coordinators and staff are working remotely to advocate on behalf of students as well as investigate alternative means of supporting your journey for the remainder of the semester.

As you may know, Humber is committed to having a healthy and inclusive community. This means that even though some staff and students are on campus and others are working and learning from home, health and wellness is still a priority for all.

Here are some of the ways you can stay active and stay engaged this term.

Off-campus Options

For all staff and students working off-site and learning online, Humber Athletics will continue to offer its wide range of virtual activities to support overall physical and mental health and wellness.

Live and on-demand fitness classes include strength training, yoga, circuit training, kickboxing and more.

We are also continuing to offer virtual personal trainers to help you achieve your personal best.

Ontario Collegiate Recreation also launched their first competitive Gaming League this Fall. You can find out more about eSports at Humber here.

Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre (Health, Counselling & Accessible Learning Services)

Our team and services in all areas of expertise within SWAC are available through a combination of remote options. If you are in crisis and need urgent mental health support, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Please call Telehealth if you develop respiratory symptoms, to review your symptoms with a Registered Nurse at 1-866-797-0000 – 24 hours/7 days per week.

Registration and Enrolment

Office of the Registrar

Registrar services are available online via MyHumber. Staff are working remotely and are monitoring and responding to emails sent to enquiry@humber.ca.

The Contact Centre will be operational Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You can reach the Contact Centre at 416-675-3111.

On Thursday, November 26 the Contact Centre will open at 10:15 am to facilitate a departmental meeting. We thank you for your patience.

Student Recruitment & Pre-enrolment Advising Services

The Student Recruitment & Pre-enrolment Advising Services department is offering both email and phone pre-enrolment advising from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students who are interested in pursuing a full-time program at Humber can take the Humber Career Finder to narrow down their choices. The student can then connect directly with a Recruitment Officer who will help them figure out the best program that fits their goals, guide them on the admission requirements and develop a detailed plan of action for their future.

IGNITE Events and Programming

We want to provide you with the best student experience possible, especially during this tough time, which is why we have waived our social engagement fee for Fall 2020 for all students, while still hosting the events and social opportunities you love.

International Centre and Services

As of Monday, November 23, 2020, the City of Toronto is under lockdown. These necessary measures are being taken to limit community transmission of COVID-19. Please see the full announcement here

In accordance with this lockdown, Humber’s International Centre offices at both Lakeshore and North Campuses are closed for in-person visits and phone services starting Monday, November 23, 2020 for the remainder of the calendar year. 

We will continue to be available online to assist you with any enquiry that you may have. If you'd like to get in touch with us online, please use our contact form: international.humber.ca/contact. Our current response time is up to five business days.  In most cases we are able to respond much sooner than five days.

Winter Orientation will be offered entirely online. More information will be available and sent to students in December.

Residence

The residence remains open with limited occupancy for the Fall term. Residence accommodations will only be available for students who must be on campus for academic purposes in the Fall term, as well as students with exceptional circumstances who have no other accommodation options. We will continue to maintain a waitlist, and encourage students to apply and add themselves to the waitlist as if a space becomes available that they are eligible for, we will offer on a first-come, first-served basis.
