On January 22, 2024, the Canadian government announced a temporary two-year cap on international student study permits.

There will be a cap of 364,000 approved study permits this year across Canada.

Current international students who are already studying and have approved permits are not impacted by this announcement. Study permit renewals are also not impacted by the announcement.

Humber does not have a public-private partnership and international students approved to study at Humber remain eligible to apply for post-graduate work permits after they have completed their studies.

We are working to assess the impact of this announcement on Humber and students wishing to study at Humber in future terms. We will share updates as they become available.

Humber Music presents “Latin Night” featuring a trio of Humber's most distinguished ensembles: The Latin Jazz Ensemble, the Brazilian Jazz Ensemble, and the Salsa Ensemble. Directed by Grammy-award winner Hilario Duran, and salsa aficionado, Sean Bellaviti, each group will take the stage to share their unique interpretations of the music that forms the pulsating heart of Brazilian and Latin American cultural heritage.

There is nothing quite as electrifying as a night enlivened by Latin music, where the soulful rhythms and melodies transport audiences and performers alike to a world where every beat pulses with life and passion. These three exceptional ensembles from Humber will treat audiences to a kaleidoscopic musical journey that highlights the finesse and dynamism of Brazilian Jazz, the pulsating energy of Salsa, and the complex rhythms of Afro-Cuban Jazz.

About the Gala

"Hues of Happiness: The Palettes of Identity" is an event that showcases the artistic works of Rina Kazavchinski. A gala and exhibit will take place at the University of Guelph-Humber Art Gallery.

The gala is free and will take place on Thursday, March 21 from 5 to 9 p.m.

After the gala, the decorations and engagement elements will be removed and the free exhibit will be open to guests from March 22 to 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is closed on Sundays.

On the gala opening night, the art gallery will be minimalistically decorated using light tones of lilac, dark tones of teal, and white. It will be done in a way that highlights the artwork and creates a welcoming ambiance. There will also be four engagement elements, including a virtual reality art experience, a display of the tools used in the artwork, a wall for guests to express themselves, and an artwork that guests can touch and feel the textures of the piece. In addition, there will be jazz music playing, a subtle sweet aroma, and complimentary food and beverages.
