Without a doubt, convocation is one of my favourite times of the year. 
 
It's extraordinary to see Humber College graduates, with their loved ones watching proudly from their seats or online, cross the stage to receive their degree, diploma, or certificate. 
 
Convocation is a time when we gather with classmates, friends, family, faculty, and the Humber community to congratulate the graduating class for their hard work and perseverance and to take pride in their accomplishments. Dear Humber employees, 

Today, I am pleased to share with you some exciting news about a transformational gift that will impact Humber. A $5-million gift from the Longo Family Foundation will support scholarships, entrepreneurship programming and provide increased opportunities for our students to develop the skills and experience that will set them apart and guide them on the road to success.

Twenty-one people. Nineteen children and two adults. Those are the numbers in the headlines following a massacre in a Texas elementary school on Tuesday. While details continue to emerge, we know that those aren’t just numbers – they are family members and friends taken as part of another act of senseless violence.
