LET'S TALK $$$

With finances always being top of mind for our students and knowing just how overwhelming the money part of their education can be, the Student Financial Resources and Fees hub has continued to evolve to offer an engaging and accessible space not only for more information about fees and OSAP, but essential supports around budgeting, financial wellness and more. With this refreshed hub, students can find important financial dates, available workshops and direct links to some of the best external resources to manage their finances as well as search various ways to save both on and off campus.

If you have any #MyHealthyHumber #SavingTips for students that you don't see on this page, feel free to reach out to us! In the meantime, visit the hub to explore the various resources available at Humber and beyond.

MEETING STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE

If students have questions, we've got answers. The Office of the Registrar is committed to offering prospective and current students various ways to connect based on their preferences and needs. From phone calls to online chat to in-person visits and virtual sessions, every student has the opportunity to speak with a knowledgeable advisor to explore their options and clarify essential information at a time and place that works best for them.

Real-life Success with Virtual Appointments

By adding virtual admissions appointments to the roster of services this past year, the RO saw an increased capacity to directly respond to students interested in starting at Humber with over 2,500 appointments since January 2023.

During the Fall term, we served over 750 students through virtual appointments including those with whom we would have otherwise not been able to connect. One advisor even had a chance to help a student with questions about the Bachelor of Commerce program who joined their appointment from a tugboat off the coast of British Columbia!

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with students appreciative of saving on transportation costs, not having to wait in line and having the right person from the right program right in front of them. Fostering a sense of connection, accommodation and accessibility, another benefit of virtual appointments has been the opportunity for the student to have their support system be a part of the conversation as well. If authorized by the student, parents and partners have been able to attend and hear the necessary information first-hand and often ask questions that the student may not have considered.

A true testament to how technology can be used to build relationships and real human connections, it has been very rewarding to see virtual advising develop and grow within Admissions and we look forward to continuing the success of this strategy in other departments as well.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

This December, the RO was proud to support Humber's spirit of giving by creating Shoebox Project packages for women in our community impacted by homelessness and contributing to this year's Admissions Holiday Initiative to give a second-year Police Foundation student experiencing financial hardship a little extra help this holiday season. We look forward to more opportunities to engage with the Humber community in the year ahead.

Warmest wishes for a safe and restful winter break and an amazing start to the new year!
