Managing school is never an easy task, between assignments, quizzes, tests, presentations, midterms and exams, it can feel overwhelming and hard to squeeze in time for yourself. However, we have some sure fire ways on how you can manage your time effectively and not feel burned out!

It’s okay not to be okay!

  • Life happens, things come up and that’s totally normal! The best thing to do when you feel like you're crazy busy would be to pause, take a moment for yourself and create a plan of action.
  • Pausing or taking a second to stop and think about how you are feeling is important because you can produce the best work and achieve academic success when you are less drained and stressed. If you ever feel like you need some support, contact the Student Wellness and Accessibility’s Health and Counseling Services or Peer Wellness Services
  • Take a moment to yourself” sounds like an impossible thing to do, especially when you’re already stressed or worried about feeling behind in your school work, but trust me: YOU NEED THE BREAK and you’ve deserved a moment for yourself. Be sure to eat or watch a show or even do both–anything to take a brief 30 minute break! And once you've done this and returned to your actual school work, you’ll feel soooo much better!
  • For the plan of action, all you have to do is create a schedule that suits your needs and allows you to work on assignments or tasks in a timely manner. This sounds easier said than done, but once you figure out what works best for you, it will take a load off your plate!
  • Talk with peers, one thing that students forget when their managing school life is the LIFE part, you still have to enjoy life and take time to smell the roses, and by this we mean enjoy all the workshops and events that Humber hosts. Whether it’s events at First Year Experience, Black Student Success & Engagement, LGBTQ Resource Centre, Indigenous Education & Engagement or IGNITE, be sure to check these out and get some great swag items!
