Title of Artwork: Split Down the Middle
Art Description: Over the last year, I have gotten into drone photography and videography as I love the crazy new perspectives and angles you can achieve with ease as opposed to traditional photography. Back in late January I was scrolling through Instagram and looking at some photographers that I admire and some shots caught my eye. Specifically the work of Benjamin Hardman, who is a photographer based in Iceland. He has some photos of glaciers and frozen lakes that had me mesmerized.
I wanted to see if I could get a similar shot so I packed up my gear and headed up to Jackson's Point, Georgina to try and shoot the frozen ice on Lake Simcoe. I got the drone up and was blown away by what I saw. The pressure cracks and windswept bits of ice created a beautiful symphony of abstract lines and shapes. There were so many little details and different layers that it was almost impossible to figure out what to focus on and photograph.
