Title of Artwork: Pilgrims Journey
Art Description: The ritual of pilgrimage in the Eastern context has always been defined as a journey in which you obliterate yourself. In other words, where one partakes on a journey of opening up different doors within their perceptual world. ( I think many people perform this ritual at certain stage in their life) Fundamentally, it is in the nature of all humans to seek; we question just about anything and everything. But for many, and especially in our society today, we’ve become overly comfortable in our physical environments or stuck in psychological dramas of thoughts and emotions that go on endlessly. Many walk around with a distorted sense of self based off of a hierarchy of things or have identified with the little bit of earth they’ve gathered in the form of memory or knowledge they’ve been taught. The ritual of pilgrimage is essentially to obliterate all that you’ve identified with and start a new journey with an unprejudiced mind. Striping oneself and putting oneself back together again in terms of life. It takes an immense amount of courage to partake in a  journey like this because you leave all of which you know without any intention of returning. But this is ultimately how humans in all directions of life have discovered and created things. They’ve reached their ultimate nature of what it means to be human by going beyond the limitations of the physical and have found things they could have never dreamed of.

The value of pilgrimage is not necessarily in how or where you travel, but in the degree to which you recalibrate your perception of the landscape and reconnection with the nature already around in new ways. The tree house was designed to serve as a space within nature with the intent of increasing the effervescence of life itself. To re-attune our senses to the history of existence that has been masked over by our preconceived and taught layers of false images, stereotypes and sensory numbness. By being in a quiet space surrounded by trees and life, you can leave the psychological space that has consistently overtaken the cosmic space. Being surrounded by creation itself intent, you are able to become alive to these things.
