Humber Music Presents "Immersed" for the Music and Masterclass lunch hour series taking place on November 26, 2025.
All are welcome.
Professor Justin Gray will play samples and breaks down the craftsmanship and artistic vision behind the making of his recently released Grammy-nominated album "Immersed". This cinematic album was composed, recorded, and produced from the ground up for immersive audio, with much of it being recorded at Humber's magnificent Gordon Wragg Recording Studio. Featuring 38 musicians from around the world, a spatial vision guided the recording process; every sound was performed and captured with its place in the immersive field in mind, to place the listener at the center of a global orchestra - instruments and voices surrounding them from all directions. Each piece was written to unfold around the listener, evolving across a three-dimensional soundscape. The result is an experience in which the Dolby Atmos mix isn’t a translation of the music; it is the music.
In this Masterclass and listening session, Justin will share select pieces from the album and discuss the creative and technical process behind their production. The workshop offers an accessible introduction to immersive audio for students of all years. These informative sessions are geared for current music students and open to all life-long learners who are curious about the musical process and the art of sound!
No ticket registration is necessary – but space is limited!
