TORONTO, ONTARIO – Humber Polytechnic alumnus George Stoumboulopoulos, a 1993 graduate of the Broadcasting-Radio program, was awarded a 2024 Premier’s award in the Creative arts and Design category. It marks the eighth consecutive year a Humber grad has won a Premier’s Award.

A globally renowned Canadian media personality, broadcaster, and humanitarian, Stroumboulopoulos has become a household name in creative arts and entertainment. From his iconic time as a MuchMusic VJ, to hosting Hockey Night in Canada and now Strombo on Apple Music Hits, heard in more than 165 countries, he has consistently pushed the boundaries of Canadian media. In 2023, Stroumboulopoulos was appointed to the Order of Canada, further solidifying his legacy as a leading contributor to journalism and broadcasting.

“George is a trailblazer in the Canadian Media industry who continually built brilliance throughout his career,” says Humber Polytechnic President and CEO Ann Marie Vaughan. “He had a dream and made it a reality. His career exemplifies the innovation, passion, and leadership that our alumni bring to their fields and to the world.”

The Premier’s Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of Ontario college graduates in the province and around the globe. Humber graduates were nominated in seven categories this year, including Jeff MacGregor (Business), Kenneth Hykawy (Community Services), Steve Urszenyi (Health Sciences), Sanchari Sen Rai (Recent Graduate), Lindsey McInerney (Science, Technology and Engineering), and Tony DiGiovanni (Skilled Trades).
