TORONTO, ONTARIO - Humber, Canada’s Polytechnic™, has taken another bold step on the global stage of applied education by becoming an affiliate member of the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE).
Representing more than 550 polytechnics, universities, and colleges across Europe and around the world, EURASHE is recognized internationally for advancing industry collaboration, applied research excellence, and innovation in higher education.
“Countries such as Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands and Germany have intentionally aligned national productivity strategies with polytechnics and other applied higher education institutions,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, president and CEO, Humber Polytechnic. “Humber’s membership in EURASHE opens new doors for collaboration with European partners who, like us, are forging deep partnerships with industry to strengthen communities and drive economic growth in their countries.”
Projected productivity growth through 2030 measured as potential GDP per capita, for countries that prioritize applied education - like Ireland (2%), Finland (1.1%), the Netherlands (0.9%) and Germany (0.8%) - shows that they are among the world’s most productive and stable high‑income economies. These countries also boast high representation (23%) in EURASHE’s membership.
Humber’s inclusion in EURASHE reinforces its commitment to a partnership-powered model that enables learners to find their edge and graduate with workforce-ready skills. This collaboration also strengthens industry’s access to innovation, talent, and applied research that accelerates productivity.
“By joining EURASHE, Humber continues to shape the future of applied education and expand its influence as a global leader building the expertise, solutions, and brilliance needed for today and tomorrow,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan.
