TORONTO, ONTARIO – Gamers, get ready to level up! Humber is partnering with Incendium Gaming to host Electric Clash, the premier TEKKEN tournament, at Humber’s North Campus on April 20. Humber is the first post-secondary institution to host a tour stop for Electric Clash Tekken World Tour Challenger, marking a historic achievement.

TEKKEN is a series of 3D fighting games. The series was entered into the Guinness World Records in 2017 for having both the 'Longest-running videogame storyline' and 'Longest-running consistent videogame universe.'

Electric Clash will bring an electrifying and immersive experience for gamers and esports enthusiasts. Players will compete to become the best-ranked TEKKEN 8 player. Taking place on Humber’s campus, the tournament will feature top-tier competition and provide an unparalleled platform for showcasing gaming talent.

"By hosting this event, we are enhancing the esports scene at Humber while providing our students with invaluable hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and exposure to potential career paths in the esports industry," said Bernard Mafei, lead of Humber's Esports program. "This partnership will enrich our students' educational journey and prepare them for the exciting opportunities ahead."

Humber is offering students paid staff roles at the event and invaluable experiential learning opportunities through its collaboration with Incendium Gaming.

Electric Clash is set to garner global attention, with an expected in-person and online audience tuning in from around the world. Recently inducted into Esport Canada’s varsity program list, Humber's esports program continues to gain recognition and support. It is a dynamic hub for all gaming activities focused on fostering a welcoming environment where students can compete at the highest levels, explore careers, develop skills, and leave the college feeling like they were connected to something bigger. Humber is also adding a micro-credential in Esports Social Media Management. Students will learn to engage esports communities, create compelling content, and leverage social media platforms to promote teams, events, and brands within the competitive gaming ecosystem.
