The Humber Alumni Weekend 2022 happens September 16-18 and is to celebrate the achievements of Humber graduates. It includes a series of events and activities both on and off campus over the three days. Click here for more information.

Many Humber College alumni go on to enjoy successful careers and do special things following graduation.

We wanted to connect with some of our recent graduates ahead of the Humber Alumni Weekend 2022 to find out how Humber helped in their journey to success.

We recently sat down with Sierra Costa to ask a series of questions about what the future holds for her following her graduation from Humber College.

HT: What program did you graduate from and when?

SC: I graduated from the Sport Management program in April.

HT: What are your plans now that you’ve graduated?

SC: I have started a new position as general manager with the Aurora Tigers Junior A hockey club of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, which made me the first woman general manager in the Canadian Junior Hockey League. I’m also an assistant manager at the Paramount Ice arena.

HT: How did Humber set you up for success?

SC: Humber set me up for success by offering so many different networking opportunities and having real-life sport industry professionals as instructors. The instructors made learning as realistic as possible, and I can say that I use a lot of course material in both of my jobs.

HT: What was your favourite memory during your time at Humber?

SC: It has to be coming back to campus after being online for two years. The excitement and nervousness I felt coming back onto campus made the whole journey worthwhile. Connecting with instructors and classmates that I had only ever met virtually was such a surreal moment when I finally was able to see them face to face.

HT: Do you plan on staying involved with the Humber community as an alumna?

SC: I would love to stay involved with the Humber community by sharing my story and journey. I’d like to speak to current students who are in the same shoes I was in not too long ago. Hearing the real-life success stories from Humber alumni while I was finishing up the Sport Management program really helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel and I would love to do that for other students.
