Humber College’s Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) education program provides an opportunity for maintenance managers – or those who aspire to be maintenance managers – to learn how to improve their management skills and strategies, leading to better productivity, safety and environmental compliance for their organization.

The MMP program is geared toward those looking to obtain their MMP designation, which is awarded by PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada. Upon completion of the program, certified MPPs will be qualified to provide cost-effective management of their organization’s physical assets. They will also be able to provide valuable insight into the decision-making process for future acquisitions.

“The MMP Program has provided me with a much broader view of maintenance and asset management. It has also allowed me to network with other professionals from various industries, which was very enjoyable,” said graduate Sam Abadir. Sam Abidir smiles, wearing a formal suit with a white boutonniere. The program, which will be delivered online, includes live instructed sessions and has no admission requirements.

The MMP program is geared toward those looking to obtain their PEMAC (Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada designation). Upon completion of the program, certified MPPs will be qualified to provide cost-effective management of their organization’s physical assets. “Adding the MMP designation to my existing P. Eng. designation has allowed me to transition from technical roles to managerial roles, which has been very rewarding,” said Abadir.

“In fact, both designations were listed as a requirement when I applied for my current role. I think anyone looking to become a manager in a technical field should consider the MMP Program as part of their continuing education.”

The program is now eligible for second career funding through the Ontario government
