On June 25, 2025, 185 golfers gathered on the greens at Lionhead Golf Club and Conference Centre to tee up in support of student scholarships, bursaries and emergency funds.
The signature event, presented by TD Insurance, raised more than $234,000 in support of scholarships, bursaries and emergency funds for Humber Polytechnic students.
Gina Antonacci, senior vice-president, Academic, remarked that over the past 11 years, the Humber Golf Classic took place in all kinds of weather conditions, from sunshine, rain to wind.
“But regardless of the weather, the event has had the same results, coming together to raise critical funding that goes directly to our students in the form of scholarships and bursaries.”
Golfers teed off on two championship courses, followed by lunch along with on-course contest prizes and a silent auction. The day was especially rewarding for Carter Collins, project manager, EnviroSafe Inc., who landed a hole-in-one – taking home the first ever such win at Humber Golf Classic.
It was his first time attending the signature event and Collins said he was just happy to be a part of a great day supporting Humber and playing golf.
Proceeds from this year’s signature event bring the total funds raised to more than $1.68 million since the event’s inception.
Emceeing the event for the third year in a row was Humber Journalism alumnus, Burlington Sports Hall of Fame inductee, and sportscaster Eric Smith who credits Humber for helping him launch his career.
“The Golf Classic is a very special event – one that gathers our generous community together for an important cause – our students,” said Alvina Cassiani, acting vice-president, Marketing, Communications and Advancement. “It is through the generosity of our donors today and the generosity of many others, that we are able to help our students continue with their studies.”
Organizers and Humber had a special thank you to the 2025 Golf Classic tournament sponsors, which include: Chartwells as Masters sponsor; Black Cat Advertising, Area Construction, Broken Heart Love Affair and Push Media Inc. as Green Jacket sponsors; and Amazon Web Services, BEST Service Pros, Coca-Cola Canada, Eigen X, Ellis Don Corporation, and Paragon Security as Eagle sponsors.
