Humber Polytechnic is partnering with Carson Dunlop to introduce a new Real Estate Home Inspection program through Humber’s Association and Professional Programs.
The program builds on Humber’s history of delivering home inspection education and expands its real estate-related training offerings. Humber provides education for home inspectors, real estate professionals and housing specialists through programs focused on building science, construction fundamentals, risk awareness and consumer protection.
The Real Estate Home Inspection Program combines Humber’s applied learning model with Carson Dunlop’s curriculum. The program covers residential construction, building systems, inspection standards, defect recognition, reporting practices, and professional ethics.

“As the real estate market shifts into a buyer-driven environment, the role of the home inspector has never been more critical,” said Nelia Louro, program manager of Association and Professional Programs. “Buyers are exercising greater caution, performing more due diligence and relying heavily on inspection findings to inform purchasing decisions. This program equips professionals with the expertise needed to deliver real value, mitigate risk and protect consumers.”
Home inspection reports can help real estate transactions by influencing negotiations, identify potential defects, and help buyers make informed purchasing decisions. As market conditions change, inspection accuracy and reporting remain key components of real estate transactions.
Carson Dunlop has more than 40 years of experience providing home inspection training and works with inspection firms, regulators and real estate professionals across Canada. The partnership provides learners with access to instructional materials, case studies, and curriculum aligned with current industry standards.
The program will be part of Humber’s real estate education offerings, which include training for real estate salespersons and brokers, condominium management professionals, mortgage agents and home staging professionals. These programs provide education related to property transactions, ownership, and management.

“This partnership allows us to expand access to high-quality inspection education while maintaining the depth, rigor and credibility Carson Dunlop is known for,” said CEO Karen Yolevski. “Aligning with Humber ensures learners are supported by an institution with a strong track record in real estate and professional education.”
The Real Estate Home Inspection program is intended for working professionals, those looking to change careers and real estate professionals seeking industry credentials.
