Fresh off a national championship with the Humber Hawks, Jacob Horgan is now competing on one of the biggest stages in Canadian curling.

The fourth-year Business Administration student and Hawks skip is part of Manitoba’s Team Dunstone at the Montana’s Brier in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The annual Canadian men’s curling championship runs until March 8 and features the top teams from across the country.

Horgan arrives at the Brier after leading Humber to a dominant performance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national championship. The men’s curling team finished the tournament undefeated, beating the NAIT Ooks 7–2 in the final to capture the program’s fourth national title.

Horgan curled alongside teammates Noah Garner, Matthew Abrams and Matthew Moretto during the championship run. All four players were named CCAA All-Tournament First Team All-Stars for their standout performances.

At the Brier, Horgan and Team Dunstone currently sit with a 7–1 record in Pool B. Their next match is March 6 at 1:30 p.m. against Newfoundland and Labrador’s Team Gushue.

For Horgan, competing at the Brier is the latest milestone in an already impressive curling career. The Sudbury native is a seven-time Northern Ontario junior champion and a two-time Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) silver medalist.

In 2025, Horgan was named an OCAA Second Team All-Star and was recently honoured as Humber Athlete of the Week for Feb. 23, 2026.
