The Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre at Humber Polytechnic’s Lakeshore Campus is hosting a Spring Arts Market later this month that will support an organization that empowers girls and young women.

It’s free admission to the Market that takes place on Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 25 local vendors will be there selling all manner of items and goods.

This Interpretive Centre has partnered with the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment and 100 per cent of vendor table fees will be donated to the Jean Augustine Centre, which provides programming designed to maximize the potential of girls and young women ages seven to 17 with curriculum that allows them to feel capable and confident.

Some of the vendors include Mcleod Makes – a Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe woman-owned business that sells handmade items, from earrings to keychains and more, as well as Queen Candles that sells handmade vegan soy candles. Shiso Paper offers watercolour illustrations; Sweet Baboo sells jewelry and crafts made from pressed flowers; and Hive Consciousness is run by a local beekeeper who sells products made from her hive, plus many more.

Other products available will include books from local authors, crochet, handmade soup, a selection of teas, pampering products for your dog and prints from local artists and photographers.

“We are thrilled to be hosting our second Market of the academic year – it’s a wonderful opportunity for shopping local and supporting artists and small businesses in Etobicoke and a sustainable gift shopping option for upcoming holidays and celebrations," said Nadine Finlay, event coordinator and academic manager, Archives and Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre.

The Market will also include booths for local organizations such as the Lakeshore Environmental Gardening Society, Mimico SNAP and the Jean Augustine Centre.
