Humber College has adapted to the challenges of the past year by innovating the way students, faculty and the community connect virtually.
Winter Orientation 2021 will be fully online, just like Fall 2020 Orientation - the first online orientation in the college’s history. Organizers have applied lessons from Fall Orientation to welcome new students to the Winter 2021 semester.
“First day jitters can be hard as a new student and Orientation allows them to meet their faculty, meet other students from their program and even make new friends,” said Samantha Ruth, a senior Orientation leader and International student.
International Orientation for new International students has been ongoing since December and continues into mid-January.
This semester’s Orientation will give new students an idea of what to expect at Humber and it was planned with connection in mind.
“Our Orientation programming was crafted to support students during their transition to college life and provide students with a variety of opportunities to connect with the Humber community and the many supports available to them, said Kimberly Daniels, Orientation & Student Life Programs Coordinator.
Here’s what you need to know about Winter Orientation 2021:
Getting started
The Orientation website is a hub for new students and includes pre-recorded video workshops, digital swag, links to The Open Learning Centre and other key information.
New students will also be able to access a Welcome Video that highlights student voices and the strength of Humber’s commitment to equity and diversity.
An Orientation Blackboard module will launch for all new students to strengthen their knowledge of supports and resources that are available to help them succeed.
Students who complete their Online Orientation modules are eligible to win $1000 towards their tuition.
Meet your faculty
