2015 Spin-a-thon Raises over $15,000 for United Way

December 14, 2015

On Friday, December 4, 23 teams comprised of students and staff took part in the 2015 Spin-a-thon for United Way of Toronto & York Region, raising over $15,000 for local communities in need.

Organized by 2nd-year students in the Fitness & Health Promotion program, this is the sixth year in a row that the event has taken place at Humber, but the first year with students running the show.

“It was a great experience for our students and I’m thrilled with the outcome,” says Fitness & Health Promotion instructor, Debra Basch. “They came a long way from the start of the semester, not knowing how to put an event together, to now having a very successful one behind them. I’m very proud of what they accomplished,” she adds.

There was an increase in student participation this year with five teams in total, a new record for the event. The teams were very creative with their themes as well, from ‘We Are LED-ing The Way’, to ‘Spinners of Oz’.
