Dr. Andrew Scott, Associate Dean - School of Creative and Performing Arts

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew Scott as Associate Dean, School of Creative and Performing Arts. Dr. Scott will play a critical role in curriculum design and review, faculty and staff evaluation and development, industry partnerships, and financial planning.

Dr. Scott joined Humber’s esteemed music faculty in 2005 and has been the program’s head academic advisor, while teaching music history and overseeing the music business area since 2010. During the 2014-2015 academic year, he was the acting Program Co-ordinator of the Bachelor of Music program. Dr. Scott has taught at the University of Guelph, where he also directed the school’s jazz ensemble, and at the University of Western Ontario. He has published widely in scholarly journals and has presented academic research papers at conferences across North America.

At Humber, Dr. Scott created ArtsAbled, an interdisciplinary extra-curricular program teaching entrepreneurial and arts-sector leadership skills; implemented the Bachelor of Music program’s inaugural listening party, designed four degree-breadth courses, received a 2013 SIRF grant, and sat on a number of college-wide committees. He has worked with the Registrar’s Office to develop pathways into the Bachelor of Music program, and mentored new faculty through the Teaching Excellence Project.

Dr. Scott holds a doctorate in musicology from York University and a master of music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. In June 2013, he graduated from the Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions. A runner and proud father of three, Dr. Scott is a guitarist and composer who works in the areas of jazz and popular music.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Andrew Scott into his new role at Humber!
