Guelph-Humber Business Students to Compete in South Africa

A team of University of Guelph-Humber Business students have advanced to the semi-finals of The CFO Case Competition in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Since March 1, the UGH Business students have been competing against 450 other teams from 75 universities, 42 countries and six continents for a spot in the top-6 and are the only remaining team from North America.

Below is the top-6 video created by the UGH team. The amount of “Likes” and “Shares” received on Facebook will give the top 3 teams a 5%, 3% and 1% advantage in the semi-finals.

The top 6 teams, which include the UGH team, receive an all-expenses paid trip (flight, meals, hotel) to Johannesburg, South Africa to compete in the semi-finals. In addition, they will present to 10 CEO, CFO and Board members of various public companies at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

The winning team receives:

  1. ZAR 100,000  
  2. The CFO trophy
  3. Blow the Kudu horn to open trading at the JSE, the largest stock exchange in Africa
  4. Provide university outreach through guest presentations at various universities in Johannesburg
