Humber College Esports Achieves Formal Recognition by Esport Canada

Humber College Esports (HCE), the hub for gaming activities at Humber, is proud to announce its formal recognition by Esport Canada as the 12th recognized varsity program in the country. This achievement marks a significant record at Esport Canada, as HCE secured recognition in just five months, the quickest in the organization’s history for any post-secondary esports program.

HCE is dedicated to fostering a supportive community where students can excel in competition, discover career pathways, enhance their abilities, and engage with a network that enriches their educational journey.

Highlights of HCE:

  • Varsity Teams: Four active varsity teams competing in various leagues and tournaments: League of Legends (LoL), Valorant, Call of Duty, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU).
  • Esports Club: The launch of the Humber Esports Club has been a resounding success, with 1300+ members currently engaged in our Discord community.
  • Collaborations: Our program has fostered innovative collaborations with students and faculty, enhancing the educational experience through esports. Current and future collaborators include FYE, COWD, BSSE, IE&E, Humber Hawks, BRTV, and more.
  • Upcoming Tournament: HCE is excited to host its first large-scale esports tournament in April; more details to come.
