North Campus Backfill Project
Communications Update
December 18, 2015

As you’ve traveled the halls at the North Campus, you may have noticed that Backfill Project construction has started in a number of areas. Here’s a summary of construction activity happening for the rest of this month and into the New Year.

Contract A: Phase 1 - NX Building

  • Current demolition work is expected to be completed by the end of December
  • Hoarding walls around the NX construction site will be installed in January. First floor hoarding will remain in place until June 2016; second floor hoarding until March 2016
  • First floor construction is planned to start in April and expected to be completed in the summer of 2016
  • Construction of floors 2-5 will take place from January to March 2016
  • The School of Applied Technology will begin moving into their new space in March 2016

Contract A: Phase 2 – H, J, N Building

  • Construction is expected to begin in May 2016 and to be completed for September 2016 start-up.

Contract B: C and E Building

  • Construction is expected to begin in May 2016 and to be completed for September 2016 start-up

Contract C: B Building

  • Construction is expected to begin in March 2016 and to be completed for September 2016 start-up

Contract D: JF Building

  • Construction is expected to begin in JF Building in February 2016 and to be completed by September 2016 start up
  • Exterior fencing will be installed in January. Access to the current daycare will be relocated to the back of the building

Contract F: D Building

  • Construction is expected to begin in March 2016. The wine/mixology lab will be complete for September 2016 and baking labs being ready for January 2017

The Backfill Projects are a significant opportunity to meet the growing needs of the North Campus, providing new labs, classrooms and office space for Humber’s students, staff and faculty.  For more information or if you have any questions about the project, please contact scott.valens@humber.ca.
