Program Overview

Upskilling for Data Analytics and Business Intelligence is a 16-week training program for individuals who self-identify as Neurodiverse or on the Autism spectrum. It is delivered by Humber College in partnership with Norquest College.

This unique program is designed to upgrade your data skills and help you transition into a career in business intelligence & data analysis. The program takes a personalized approach towards developing your technical skills and essential employment skills. It will also provide you with assistance to secure a hands-on work experience with a partner employer.

As a participant, you will have access to individual accommodations critical to successful skill building and employment retention.

You will also have the support of a professional job coach and an employer liaison who will assist both the student and the employer.

The program includes both in-person learning as well as an on-the-job work placement.

  • Learn the foundational components of business intelligence and data analytics.
  • Gain transferable skills such as importing and converting data files, creating dashboards and advanced spreadsheet modeling.
  • Learn current transferable skills including data entry, data transformation, data modelling, and data visualizations.
  • Learn professional communication skills, teamwork and collaboration, information literacy, and project management.
  • Learn critical job seeking skills including resume writing, development of cover letters, and interview skills.
  • Access to career coaching throughout both the in-class and work experience components.
  • Classroom support and accommodations as needed.
  • A minimum of 100 hours of paid integrated work experience with hands-on experience in a data analysis role with a partner employer.

Work Placement

A paid work placement will be introduced near the end of the classroom training portion of the program. This placement will range from 100 to 200 hours.

Admission Requirements

  • Must self-identify as Neurodiverse or on the Autism spectrum.
  • Must have Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
  • Must have 3 years of work experience (paid or volunteer)
  • Must be fully available to attend in-person classes at Humber College
    (205 Humber College Blvd, Toronto, ON)
