Envision the Future of Work

Driven by AI and complex hybrid environments, the future of work is continuously evolving, and Human Resource professionals and people leaders must recognize the role that they need to play in removing barriers to inclusion in these challenging times. The need to expand skills and competencies to lead with effectiveness and authenticity has never been more critical. It’s time to move from maintaining the status quo to taking purposeful action.

We all share the responsibility of acknowledging our own biases and actively fostering an environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, views, and identities in the workplace. This is a fundamental human imperative.

Our latest panel in the Envision the Future of Work series will explore the impact of systemic barriers in the workplace, why these barriers persist, and the necessary steps to eliminate them, driving sustainable change towards greater equity and inclusion.

All proceeds from this event will go towards scholarships for New Beginnings, a not-for-profit agency supporting low-income and underserviced women in downtown Toronto.

The use of AI in recruitment offers numerous benefits such as efficiency, objectivity and scalability. However, several key issues and challenges arise in its implementation. Organizations are faced with navigating issues around bias and fairness, transparency, data privacy and security, quality of data, legal and ethical concerns. Addressing these issues requires a multifaceted approach involving collaboration between AI developers, recruiters, policymakers and other stakeholders to ensure that AI-driven recruitment practices are fair, transparent and ethical.

Women, the Pandemic and the Future of Work

On Tuesday June 28th, 2022 the Humber IGS hosted the second in the EnVision the Future World of Work event series and the first hybrid event. Recognizing that the pandemic disproportionally impacted marginalized communities, especially impacting women in the workforce across sectors, the session brought together three exceptional leaders speaking to the specific challenges facing women in different fields as we move past the pandemic and into a new era of work. Moderated by Humber’s Senior Vice-President, Academic, Dr. Gina Antonacci and featured panelists Andrea Spender, CEO of The Prosperity Project, Monika Tamber, director, Security Governance with Payments Canada, and Zenia Wadhwani, executive director of the Woodbine Cares Foundation. Participants left the session with specific strategies for corporations, industries, and organizations to consider as we move to rebuild economies.
