A Week to Remember

I’ve just finished my first week at Humber College and what a wonderful week it was for me!

I want to start this message by saying thank you. Thank you for the opportunity to meet so many of you this week – thank you for your warm greetings and smiles. It is easy to see that Humber is a wonderful, welcoming place.

Having an opportunity to explore our college firsthand is something I’ve been looking forward to since accepting the position. I’m excited to be here and am enjoying my first taste of the Humber experience, which included sitting down to breakfast with more than 1,000 of you.

I’m inspired by our world-class facilities and speaking with our dedicated, expert faculty who ensure that our learners gain the knowledge and skills they need to lead and innovate. I am also excited about meeting our staff who support all of the college operations, faculty and students so that we all succeed. You are all innovators, creators and leaders! I look forward to seeing what our campuses and locations have to offer in the coming weeks, especially when labs and classrooms are filled with students.

Orientation is already underway and I’m eagerly anticipating the influx of energy that comes when our students return to campus for the start of a new school year. The enthusiasm and passion our learners bring to Humber is inspiring and I know how much of a buzz their presence will generate. Already you can feel the energy in the hallways!

I have said before that the Humber community is extraordinary, and that sentiment has been reinforced following my first week here. I’ve started to meet with our staff, faculty and students and I look forward to learning more about all of you.

If you see me walking through our halls, having a coffee or enjoying the natural splendor our campuses offer, I invite you to say hello. Many of you already have, and it’s making me feel right at home, reminding me that Humber is truly something special. I look forward to meeting more of you and hearing about your hopes and dreams for Humber.
