Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) I created this piece based on a book from my country called "Sangurimas" which is a book written in the magic realism genre. It talks about an old tribe in the coast of the country and its stories. It makes a lot of emphasis in the sexism of the time and how women were seen as reproductive beings and the ones in charge of feeding the men and other services. They were dehumanize and seen as animals or plants. I took those characteristics and represented visually how the women were seen in abstract but beautiful way, with a lettuce, that might not look entirely like it, to represent the "plant character" I put paint so it would look like blood and violent and contrasted with flowers to express the reproduction and beauty.
