Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) | The Quintessential Indian Bride is the depiction of a traditional Indian bride in the style of a Madhubani/Mithila painting. Madhubani is a traditional Indian folk art painting style that is done using figures and vibrant colors along with huge eyes being the key elements. My inspiration for this was a recent wedding I had attended back in India before moving to Canada. It was the nostalgia of missing home along with the love for traditional Indian folk art that inspired me to draw this. Also, I wish to introduce this style of painting to the vast audience here in Canada. |
