Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) Over the last year, I have gotten into drone photography and videography as I love the crazy new perspectives and angles you can achieve with ease as opposed to traditional photography. Back in late January I was scrolling through Instagram and looking at some photographers that I admire and some shots caught my eye. Specifically the work of Benjamin Hardman, who is a photographer based in Iceland. He has some photos of glaciers and frozen lakes that had me mesmerized.
I wanted to see if I could get a similar shot so I packed up my gear and headed up to Jackson's Point, Georgina to try and shoot the frozen ice on Lake Simcoe. I got the drone up and was blown away by what I saw. The pressure cracks and windswept bits of ice created a beautiful symphony of abstract lines and shapes. There were so many little details and different layers that it was almost impossible to figure out what to focus on and photograph.
What year was the artwork created? 2023
