Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) | The symbolism associated with lanterns inspired me to paint this piece of art. Lanterns are often seen as symbols of guidance, illumination, and hope across various cultures. They are used to light the way during dark times or to mark the path towards a desired destination. For me, these lanterns represent the idea of finding one's way. As the year 2022 was drawing to a close, I painted this artwork to mark a new beginning in my life. I was leaving behind everything I knew in Mumbai, where I was born and raised, and embarking on a new life in Toronto. Although venturing into the unknown was scary, I was confident that I would find my path in life. The lanterns in my painting symbolize a guiding force and a source of hope that I will be able to navigate my way and eventually reach my desired destination. |
