Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) This image was taken near the end of 2022, which was a hard year for me personally. A series of events revolving around family, friends, as well as my own mental health had broke me down to become more introspective than I have ever been. Because of this, I wanted to take a simple, yet personal photo to end off the year. I was partially inspired by the cover for Frank Ocean's 2016 album Blonde, though there are many differences between that cover and mine. It was taken in one shot, and I was really surprised how well it turned out. It has since become one of my favourite images I've ever taken.

The name of the shot is taken from a track from Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly, entitled Mortal Man.
