Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) Mauritius, my home country, inspired me for this one. I wanted to show how even with so many different cultures and religions, we Mauritians are united. I also wanted to show our language in this piece which is the Mauritian Creole as well as some features of Mauritius such as the sea, the flag, the sun and the nature. In creole, Hand in Hand translates to Lame dan Lame, I wanted to show how, yes, we speak English and French but we also have our unique language. With the connected heads, I wanted to represent Mauritians being tied together by our small island, our language, our sega and others.
