Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) I have adored many oil paintings and oil painters, though mainly from Rembrandt and Gustave Jacquet. I am mainly mesmerized by the techniques of painting in oil, so I do painting studies but in digital art with programs like Photoshop and Procreate. In this piece, I wanted to do a self-portrait but in my country's traditional clothing called the "Filipiniana" or "Maria Clara dress". I decided to approach the painterly technique when doing this portrait to look a lot like an oil painting. In the final outcome, it looked like I painted an ancestor of my bloodline during the Spanish settlement in the Philippines.
