Humber's Global Education and Academic Partnerships Team are developing innovative, cutting-edge programs, and the world is noticing.  Rebecca Fitzgerald,  associate director of International Mobility and Strategic Partnerships, Rebecca Trautwein, manager of Global Learning & Engagement and Erin Cole, International Mobility coordinator have received several prestigious honours, including two new awards.

The Canadian Bureau for International Education recently selected the team to receive the 2021 Panorama Award, which recognizes innovation and excellence in design, planning, implementation and management of international education programs. To be eligible for the award, the nominee must demonstrate creativity and impact, which the team has in spades. 

Humber Global's popular Global Systems Gap Challenge wrapped up its second installment earlier this year. The challenge provides students with the opportunity to identify systemic gaps and issues that need addressing, which they research in teams that include both Humber students and students from international partner institutions. 

This year, students studied gaps identified by challenge partner, the City of Toronto. 

"By the end of the challenge, the participants took very complex issues and summarized the gaps in existing systems into something digestible and easy for someone to understand and leverage that information to make future decisions," said Rebecca Fitzgerald. 

More than 400 students from 32 countries participated in this year's challenge to break down pressing urban issues and identify possible paths to sustainable solutions. 

The team also received a PIEoneer Award in September for progressive education delivery.  Again, they were praised for innovation and achievement in global education.
