Certificate of Completion
Program Code: IEC
Program Description
The Inclusive Educator Certificate program offers both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to empower educators to first identify common barriers for diverse learner populations and then make changes to their teaching and course designs to create more inclusive learning environments. Participants will develop an understanding of foundational curriculum and learning theories and reflect on the role of instructors and students and their own beliefs about the purpose of education. Taking an intersectional approach to inclusive teaching practices, they will consider different understandings of disability and social exclusion. Drawing on accessible design, universal design, culturally relevant pedagogy, trauma informed pedagogy and other inclusive education frameworks, participants will examine and refine their own inclusive teaching practices with consideration of their specific educational context. The certificate is designed to embody principles of inclusive teaching and provides opportunities for reflection, community-building with peers, and authentic application of key concepts.
