Are you concerned that someone might find out where you've been online?

Here's how to reduce the chances your online activity can be traced.

Web browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer leave traces behind that indicate where you've been on the internet. While it's impossible to be sure your activities cannot be traced, there are a few ways you can reduce the chances.

1. Use Private Browsing. Many web browsers now give you this option.

2. If not, you will need to erase:

  • Your Cache
  • Your History

3. Google Chrome

  • Click the menu on the top right corner
  • Select History
  • Click on Clear browisng data
  • From the menu box, select the history you want to delete. Select the beginning of time, if you want to delete the entire history.
  • Click the button Clear browsing history

4. Firefox

  • Click the menu on the top right corner
  • Select Options
  • Select the Privacy tab
  • Click on Clear your recent history
  • From the menu box, select the history you want to delete. Select everything, if you want to delete the entire history.
  • Be sure to also select 'cache' along with 'browsing and download history'

5. Internet Explorer

  • Click on the Tools icon on the top right corner
  • Select Safety
  • Select Delete browsing history
  • Be sure to select 'temporary internet files and website files', 'cookies and website data' and 'history'
  • Click the button Delete
