Student Injuries at Humber College

If a Humber student is injured on campus:

  • Report injury to Health Services on the day of the injury. If it is after-hours please access closest health care location if medical care is required.
  • Students must notify their instructor if injury occurred in a program-related injury.

- If students report incidents to their instructor, the instructor/faculty should ensure completion of a Health and Safety Incident Report (HSIR) that will be sent to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

  • If it is an employee, the employee should report to their supervisor, who will complete a Health and Safety Incident Report to be sent to OHS.
  • If an individual accesses SWAC, SWAC will complete an Injury Treatment Report and forward the copy to OHS. Please note that the report may still needed to be submitted separately, as described in the previous bullets. 

Student Clinical/Field Placement Injuries

  • Health Science Students - If a student is injured while on placement the instructor must:
  • Community and Social Service Students - If a student is injured while on placement the student must:
    • Access closest health care location if medical care is required.
    • Notify the Occupational Health department or director of agency where injury occurred.
    • Notify Humber instructor and placement co-ordinator.
    • Fill out a Student Work Placement Injury Report and forward the copy to OHS.
