Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) This scene is basically from my native where the elderly people sit outside their houses and pass their time. When ladies play 'Dhaya Pas' which is a game similar to Ludo while they gossip. Whereas the male talk about the news they heard about which will be basically politics. It has a routine of sweeping their door front and make 'kollams' which is called as rangoli. They gather around at a house, choose a 'thinai' (the place where they sit outside the house) and have a great time together. This happens after noon and they wind up before it gets dark to go do their household routines. The title 'Maalai Pozhuzhu' means evenings. I would spend my holidays at my native and this will be my view every evening. I decided to make this because the time I spend in my native has been reduced these years and I miss the old days. Even the elder people who play these have been aged and they don't play it anymore. I wanted this to be my lifetime memory and never to be forgotten. This painting reminds me of those beautiful days I had back then.
