Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) | "The Difference Between Friends and Strangers" is a diptych of the first photo I ever took of Megan, and the last. In the first photo she walked into my frame, a complete stranger, and her aura demanded my attention, the last photo was taken after we had become friends. Our story reminds me of the mythology about the "Red Thread of Fate". About how everyone we are destined to meet in life is tied to us with an invisible red thread. The story tells us about a girl with a scar on her eyebrow. a shocking parallel to Megan, a stranger with a matching eyebrow scar. I met her by chance this winter, having felt drawn to her by an unknown force. She seemed to be drawn too. after our first encounter, becoming friends was effortless. |
