Art Description (What inspired you to create the artwork?) | The eyes of this self-destructive man full of sorrow, staring into the void, reminds me of the quote by Alanis Morissette- "To whom do I owe the biggest apology? No one's been crueller than I've been to me." I had a similar reaction when I read this quote the first time. The realization was both overwhelming and unsettling, and all I could do was stare at nothing- contemplating my life so far, regretting and grieving my hurt soul. The emotion behind this man's eyes, and his state of apparent self-destruction because of poor coping mechanisms were relatable to me at the time and I wanted to capture it. |
