There is so much going on in the world that it's overwhelming. Many of us are at the point of ignoring the strangeness, awfulness and devastation these last few years have bestowed on us, especially in the last twelve months. This painting plays on the ideas of exhaustion, being oblivious to what's going on around us, and our dependence on various coping mechanisms. The title itself refers to what the sardines in top hats are doing - canning Henry Periwinkle while the rest of the world pays no heed.
