Abertay University, located in Dundee, Scotland was the first in the world to offer majors in computer games and ethical hacking. More recently, we have been listed as ‘Top International School for Games Design’ by the Princeton Review 2024, as well as becoming the first institution in Scotland to receive accreditation from The Rookies—a global authority on excellence in creative arts education, meaning Abertay now features alongside the world’s top schools who offer courses in design, gaming and digital art.

Abertay University has also been ranked Scotland's top modern university for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2024. For the second year in a row, Abertay was the highest-ranked modern university in the country on the survey's key measure of overall student satisfaction.

Abertay places a strong focus on professional development. Our games programmes are designed to harness creativity through practical project work. 'Thinking outside the textbook' allows students to choose their own path, giving them the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world environments.

Graduates of Humber’s Advanced Diploma in Games Programming can enter into the 4th year of our BSc (Hons) Computer Games Applications Development programme and complete a final year on our MProf Games Development programme, both on campus. Allowing Humber graduates the opportunity to be part of Abertay’s tight-knit and supportive community.
